Christie's Story

In June 2007, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My first reaction was “Oh my god, I’m going to lose my hair”. And of course, by the time I went for my second chemotherapy treatment that’s exactly what happened.

Losing her hair is every woman’s fear; you don’t have to face chemo to know this.

Wigs weren’t for me so I began my search for comfortable, fashionable and affordable headwear. I soon discovered that options were few and far between.

This was reinforced by others at a cancer support group: I was not the only one looking for suitable headgear! Before long, with the help of my mother, I began making my own hats and scarves.

And so Gotcha Covered was born.
